I assume most of you will have heard the Prime Minister last Sunday talk about changes to “lockdown”. I know you will have many questions that, as yet, I am not able to answer. As an Academy we had no prior warning of this announcement, so as you can imagine we are now beginning to work through the guidance, some of which has not been issued yet.
Our absolute priority is to keep our students, our staff and our families safe. There is no requirement for students in Year 7, 8, 9 or 11 to return to school. Therefore, Fulwood Academy will remain physically closed for these students until September, at the earliest.
We have been asked to consider how we might increase the face to face contact for Year 10. We are working very hard at the moment to see how we can meet this request. I will be in touch directly with Year 10 parents as soon as I am able to explain our plan to do this.
At Fulwood, we are working hard to support those students who are in school each day as their parents are key workers and our students working from home. We are now planning to see how we can increase face to face contact for Year 10. At this moment in time we have no answers to your questions around this. We are trying to work out how we can do this and keep everyone safe.
Our staff are working hard to continue to support all our families and students. Communicating with all 740 families each week has happened for eight weeks and we are grateful for the very positive feedback you have given.
You may have noticed that you have had an increased number of calls from withheld numbers; this could be our staff trying to contact. We are also texting families. Please can you text us back so that we are able to move onto the next call/text knowing that our message has been received.
