Mrs J Dean
Joan Dean has a long career in education. After attending Manchester University Joan started her career as a teacher in Oldham. Joan then became a deputy headteacher in Moss Side Manchester followed by her next role as the headteacher of a large primary school in central Manchester. Joan was appointed to Her Majesty's Inspector of Schools (HMI). In addition to inspecting schools in England ? both primary and secondary - Joan led many inspections of British Forces schools in Cyprus and Germany. From Ofsted Joan was seconded to the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister where she pursued her interest in schools in disadvantaged areas. As a result of this work Joan became a Director at the National College for School Leadership More recently, Joan established a consultancy supporting local authorities and schools with school improvement strategies and leadership development. She has worked extensively in Manchester schools and has successfully run Manchester?s aspiring leaders

Mrs W PallantAcademy Parent Governor
Mrs W Pallant
Wendy works in a neighbouring authority as a teacher in a sensory support team and specialises in working with deafblind children. Her role involves supporting mainstream and special schools to meet the educational needs of children who are deaf and or visually impaired and working with under 5s at home and in pre-school settings. In addition to working with children she is a regional tutor at The University of Birmingham for the postgraduate distance learning course on deafblindness. Wendy?s daughter is a pupil at Fulwood Academy and she has been a parent governor at Sherwood Primary School for 7 years and a local authority governor at Fulwood and Cadley Primary School for 4 years before that.

Mr H Ross
Hugh Ross - has worked in administration and management within the public sector for over 30 years and is presently as an Operational Leader for the Civil Service. Accredited by the Institute of Leadership and Management, Hugh has lead several initiatives throughout his career including transitions of large teams through both change of benefit and processes, he is also the Digital lead for his area. He enjoys helping out in the Community and has volunteered to assist amongst others at CAB Kirkham, Let's Grow Preston and the Harris Museum. Hugh is married and has lived in Preston all his life and is looking forward to supporting Fulwood to becoming an outstanding Academy.

Mr D Walker
David Walker is the Local Authority representative on the governing body. David has been a local councillor serving the Sharoe Green Ward of Preston City Council since 2012. He is married to his wife Tina, and has 3 daughters. David's work sees him operating as the Managing Director of his family business, Preston Wholesale Meats, which he has been involved in for the past 25 years

Mr M SnelsonAcademy Governor
Mr M Snelson
Mike Snelson recently retired following more than 40 years as a professional working in education.
His career included spells as a primary headteacher of two schools in the north-west; a School Improvement Adviser in Redcar and Cleveland; Ofsted team inspector; and Principal Adviser for Lancashire?s School Effectiveness Service. Most recently he has worked as an independent education consultant.
Mike is married and lives in Lancashire. He has two sons (both teachers!) and four grandchildren.

Mrs J Garnsey
Jane Garnsey is an experienced HR professional, fully CIPD qualified and has extensive experience within the telecommunications industry having worked at TalkTalk for the past 10 years. Jane has held a number of senior positions on the People Leadership Team during her 10 years there and is passionate about bringing her varied experience and network at TalkTalk into the role of Governor at Fulwood Academy. Her current role is People Operations Director, with a large remit covering recruitment, payroll, systems, data, HR services and also property and workplace. Jane is dedicated to ensuring colleagues at TalkTalk have a great place to work through all the things that her teams are accountable for. Jane lives in Bolton and is married with two young children and is very much looking forward to making a difference in her role as Governor at Fulwood.

Mr J Cannon
John Cannon has a wealth of experience. He qualified as a teacher of students with learning difficulties and/or disabilities from Bristol University in 1972.
He worked in several Special Schools including the Mellands Special School, Gorton, Manchester.
John made a film ? Sense of Movement? which was selected as a film of special importance by the National Film Archives.
He developed a programme on behaviour modification with The Hestair Adrian Research Centre. He also taught at Fielden Park College, Didsbury, Manchester where he set up courses for students with Learning Difficulties.
John has spent 4 years developing two large Nursing Homes in Settle and Bradford. He has previously been the Deputy Chair of Governors at North Manchester Boys School for two years. John brings valuable knowledge, expertise and experience.
