Fulwood’s young people matter, and given the right opportunities and support, they have the ability to grow into enterprising and successful adults able to make a difference to and for their communities and themselves. A broad range of balanced curriculum opportunities at Fulwood foster not only an enthusiasm for learning but also inspire in students the confidence to take responsibility, the ability to adapt to change, to develop good relationships and to be responsible citizens. In adopting a ‘personalised’ approach to learning and teaching, the Academy’s curriculum focuses on individual potential and developing the individual’s learning skills. Learning is supported by the very latest digital technologies, with the addition of ‘state of the art’ new facilities from 2012. We ensure that our young people are surrounded by a ‘can do’ entrepreneurial culture which will help them to shape and realise their hopes for their future. Sixth form provision will be established at the earliest opportunity and will allow students to progress their education beyond 16 by providing courses, programmes and qualifications that bring out the best in every student.
Traditional subjects are blended with creative approaches to teaching and learning that will enable students to value:
The Self, recognising that we are unique human beings capable of spiritual, moral, intellectual and physical growth and development.
Relationships, as fundamental to the development and fulfilment of ourselves and others, and to the good of the community and society. We value others for themselves, not only for what they have or what they can do for us.
Our society, where truth, freedom, justice, human rights, the rule of law and collective effort are valued for the common good. We value families of all different kinds and contributions made to our society by a diverse range of people, cultures and heritages.
The environment, both natural and shaped by humanity, as the basis of life and a source of wonder and inspiration that needs to be protected.
